Mariehamn, Åland

Last weekend, we went on a trip to Åland, Finland by ferry. The cruise was incredibly cheap, just 40 SEK, and so we decided to spend some time in Mariehamn. The island was very quiet and calm, and it was a bit cold, but overall it was a very pleasant stay. Åland is a summer destination, and also it was a weekend, so most stores were closed. We did get the chance to have an awesome Fika at a small cafe and explore the town though. (for my MA people - think about going to the less-visited
part of Martha's Vineyard in November... similar feeling!)

Emily accompanied us on the trip, of course, and it was great to have a really good friend with us the whole time. After Fika, Juan and Jan decided to take yet another chilly dip in the baltic sea (crazy kids) - the sequence you'll see below.
